Fionaβs Fundraising Challenge Raises Β£42,290!
Fionaβs December running challenge has come to a triumphant close, raising an astounding Β£42,290, which will be doubled thanks to a generous sponsor!
This challenge saw Fiona run an incredible 25 miles every day from December 1st to 25th, covering a total of 625 miles while still managing the sanctuaryβs monumental daily workload. This monumental effort was aimed at keeping the sanctuary afloat during the tough winter months, when feed costs are at their highest.
As Fiona has shown throughout her life, sheβs not just βsurvivingβ on a vegan diet but absolutely thriving, even in the face of enormous challenges. The funds raised will make a real difference for our 400 rescued animals and ensure they have the care and resources they need through the colder months.
Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this incredible campaign!

Marathon des Cows
Have you heard of the Marathon des Sables? Itβs billed as the toughest footrace on the planet and involves competitors running a marathon a day for 6 days across the Sahara Desert, whilst carrying all their food and supplies on their backs in temperatures up to 50 degrees C β 250 Km in all. Itβs not for the faint hearted!
Fiona - the Sanctuary founder β has done this race 3 times now (with Percy of course) β not because she likes doing it, but to show that as a lifelong vegan, she can. Essentially to dispel the myth that vegans are weak, frail and would blow away in the slightest of breezes.
If a vegan of 50 years can do this β as well as break 4 Guinness World Records in marathon running β then it is proof positive that the diet/lifestyle is not restrictive in any way
So as you may be aware if you watch our posts on social media, things have not been easy these last few years following the lockdowns and now the cost-of-living crisis, the impact being that we have seen a significant fall in monthly donations to the point where our running costs are greater than regular donations by around Β£6000 a month.
To cover this shortfall, we are using our reserves, but these will not last for much longer β as you might expect at this burn rate.
We were founded in 1993 with a mission to provide care and a forever home to animals in need.
