Dino was one of 4 Hereford cows rescued from slaughter in 2019. One of our supporters had been walking their dogs past the field where the four friends lived and had over a period of weeks grown very fond of the boys who came over for a bit of love through the fence. On speaking to the farmer she learned that they were going to be 'prime beef'. Determined not to let this happen, she managed to secure them from the farmer and asked if we could give them sanctuary. Rescuing animals in this way is not however the answer as more will be bred to replace them for as long as consumer demand persists. It does however change the future for those fortunate enough to be spared the abbatoir and by sharing their stories we may plant seeds that we hope will change things for these animals in the future
