Malky was one of the first cows we ever rescued. He is a Holstein Friesian and arrived in April 2016 having been saved from slaughter at a fattening unit in Norfolk. One of 4 taken in that day all aged 2 months or so. Malky is also one of our biggest cows along with Woodstock.

This particular breed does grow to be enormous, but of course nearly all of them are never given the chance as they are bred for meat and slaughtered often at just 12 months old - still babies :'(  Malky is never far from Woody Woodstock and spends the Summer months wandering the fields at the sanctuary with access to the hard standing an straw filled barns should the weather be inclement - much like it has been this week !
