Back in 2019 wer were contacted by the man who runs Colchchester livestock market to see whether it might be possible for us to take a small herd of Highland Cows.
The man was aware of Fiona since we had previously rescued Olga and Marinka from that place. He had been looking to secure a home for a number of Highlands that were in private ownership but whose owner was gravely ill and who was desperate to find a home for his cows after he passed. By this time we had 4 Highlands and so agreed to take the small herd.
Whilst the number of Highlands was "small" the animals themselves were quite the opposite! There were 7 altogether and what a magnificant site they made as they came off the lorry and ran into the barn. They were however nearly all very elderly most being born 2003 and it wasn't long before we started to lose them to old age - getting a Highland to the late teens is a good age for the breed. Snorky is the last of this little herd as he was much younger than the others and is 13 now.
He now lives happily with 15 Highland friends and hopes to find kind people who will help him meet his sponsorship challenge :)
