Flora was one of the first 2 Highland cows we ever rescued. Back in December 2018 she arrived with her friend Fenella. They had both been used to breed all their lives and of course all their babies had gone for meat. However now they had reached an age where further breeding was not advised and so they were, like 99.99% of all mother cows at that age, being sent for slaughter. The farmer however was not happy to send them to his local slaughterhouse and was looking for any alternative.
Fiona was asked if we would help... The farmers parting words were that there was no possibility that Flora was "in calf" - so it was a bit of a suprise when 6 months later, Fernando arrived on the scene. Flora was very protective of him, but soon realised that she was going to be allowed to keep him which must have been quite something for her having lost all her previous 10 calves. Please help Flora stay safe at the sanctuary and help her meet her target by sponsoring her monthly from just £1. It all adds up
