Flora and Fenella were the first 2 Highland cows we rescued, arriving at the sanctuary at the end of 2018 not long after we had acquired the new farm site.  They had been used as breeding machines all their lives but had reached an age where they were no longer going to produce good enough 'stock' and were therefore going to go for meat themselves. The farmer however was looking for what other options were available to him as for some reason he didn't want to send the girls to his local slaughterhouse and contacted Fiona to see if there was any chance we could help.

His parting words were that there was no chance that either of the girls were "in calf"...  5 months later, Fernando was born and in June on 2019 little Fritha appeared on the scene!  She is now 4 years old and happily living with Mum still and her family of Highlands plus Dennis the Vaynol - who identifies as a Highland.

Fritha is very keen to help Fiona continue to help the animals and would be very happy if you can help her meet her target by sponsoring her on a monthly basis :)
